ASTM D-2239 (SIDR-PR) Based on Controlled Inside Diameter
This specification covers polyethylene pipe made in standard thermoplastic pipe inside dimension ratios and pressure rated for water. Pipe manufactured under this specification is based on a controlled inside diameter. For a given nominal size, the inside diameter will be constant regardless of the pressure rating.
Pipe manufactured to this specification is described using a prefix-diameter ratio. The prefix for ASTM D-2239 is SIDR.
The most common ratios under this specification are SIDR-19, SIDR-15, SIDR-11.5, SIDR-9, and SIDR-7. The lower the SIDR number, the thicker the wall and the higher the pressure rating. The definition of SIDR (Standard Inside Dimension Ratio) is the specific ratio of the average specified inside diameter to the minimum specified wall thickness.
SIDR-7 service pipe is available in black, Super Service™ Blue and Reclaimed Water Purple. All other pressure classes are available in black.
